December 20, 2008 -- I have a lot of news today.  First, I found out that my next novel, Our Lady of the Absolute, has been accepted for publication.  Right now, it's slated for publication in Summer 2010.

I've also learned that the artist of the cover art of The Dragonslayer's Sword, Anna Winsom, has won the The Dirk A. Wolf Honorable Mention Award for Excellence in eBook Cover Artwork, an award given by EPIC.  You can see all the winners of this award at http://www.epicauthors.com/quasars-honorablemention2009.html

Also, I was recently interviewed by Emma Larkins for her blog.  You can read the interview at http://www.emmalarkins.blogspot.com/

December 11, 2008 -- Today's Update #3 (see other updates below).  I recently learned that The Dragonslayer's Sword is a Finalist for the EPPIE Award for the Best Fantasy Novel of 2008.  The EPPIE is an award for e-books, and my novel is eligible because it's published in two formats:  as a trade paperback and as an e-book.  The winners will be announced at a ceremony held in Las Vegas in March.

December 11, 2008 -- Today's Update #1:  This is a photo of me selling my novel at the Alabama Renaissance Faire in October, which was one of the most fun events of my tour.  This photo was taken by Scott Hancock, a member of the North Alabama Science Fiction and Cake Appreciation Society, which is one of the best names for a writers group I've ever heard.  Especially because I already have a deep appreciation for cake.  Many thanks, Scott!

October 14, 2008 -- Contest alert!  The Bitten By Books website is sponsoring a major contest.  I'm offering a copy of The Dragonslayer's Sword to 2 different winners of their contest.  They're offering lots of great prizes.  For more information and to enter, go to bittenbybooks.com.

October 12, 2008 -- I did a presentation at Chapters Bookstore in Pittsfield, Massachusetts last night -- what a great bookstore!  This is an independent store with lots of personality.  The owners have set up easy-to-browse aisles and eye-catching displays.  They've also chosen some of the most unique and gorgeous furniture I've ever seen in a bookstore.  And the event space is fantastic!  It's a large, separate room that's relaxing and friendly.  They're making great use of it by hosting lots of events.  If you're ever in Pittsfield, look for Chapters Bookstore (78 North Street -- it's easy to find).  This is a store that deserves to thrive.  (Click here to check out their Myspace page.)

September 29, 2008 -- There's a terrific review of The Dragonslayer's Sword on the Bitten By Books website (click here to read it).  The reviewer really understands what I'm doing with my novel, which is something I always appreciate!

September 21, 2008 -- I did a book signing and reading at the Higgins Armory Museum in Worcester, Massachusestts yesterday.  If I had to describe it in a single word, that word would be "charming."  The folks at Higgins did a wonderful job, and I really enjoyed the audience.  Everyone I met had interesting things to say, and I learned a lot from them, which is always good.  After I did the reading, people asked excellent questions -- and I ended up getting ideas for the future books I've planned for this series!  The gift shop at Higgins also set up a really beautiful display for The Dragonslayer's Sword:  they have a display table that looks like a castle, and they surrounded copies of my books with all kinds of dragons.  So books and dragons are arranged on top of the castle, which is perfectly in sync with the cover of my novel!  The display took my breath away.  Thank you to everyone who came to the event and everyone who was involved in working on it!
